Craig Kerrecoe MNCPS (Acc.)

Psychotherapy and Counselling

ABOUT ME

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, and an Accredited Registrant Member of National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) (Membership number: NCS23-02336).

I have been trained to work integratively using a selection of complementary modalities and concepts, including Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT), together with attachment theory, affirmations and schemas.
I have received additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and plan to continue my training and professional development in those fascinating modalities.

That’s all very dry and uninteresting isn’t it? Most of those phrases or terms probably don’t mean very much to you, and to be honest, it isn’t really very important which modalities I use. It is widely accepted that the modality or theory that any therapist is trained in or uses with a client has much less of an impact on the outcomes for the client than the relationship they share.

This relationship is called the ‘therapeutic alliance’ and, ideally, it builds between the client and the therapist over time, session after session, until there is understanding, trust, and a willingness to explore the challenges, concerns, difficult emotions and traumas that we inevitably pick up along the way. That’s where the work gets done.

I will work hard to build a strong, authentic, reliable therapeutic alliance with you, whatever the issues you bring with you to therapy. In terms of the lived-experience that I will bring to our alliance, I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community since coming out in my late forties. I offer a service firmly rooted in principles of acceptance and understanding.

I am also neurodivergent and have a great deal of lived-experience related to the frequently uncomfortable clash between neurodivergent people and the neurotypical world in which we exist.  I am now a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) (Certification #842209). I am registered with the Autistic Therapist Directory connecting Autistic clients with Autistic Therapists who practise in a neuro-affirming and non-pathologising manner.

If you want to know more about me in order to figure out if I am the right therapist for you I will be happy to answer your questions during our consultation. Click here to contact me so that we can book your free 20 minute online/telephone consultation.

CODE OF ETHICS

As an Accredited Registrant Member of NCPS (Membership number: NCS23-02336) I am bound by their Code Of Ethics.

The code sets out the fundamental principles that inform the NCPS (and my) approach to ethical issues. It also provides expectations of how practitioners will conduct themselves as members of the NCPS.
